Everywhere I turned yesterday, the new adopters were disappointed with the opportunity Apple seems to have 'squandered' in the release of the 'iPad 3'. Here's the thing. The iPad is a fully formed product, now. It is like the IBM 360 architecture. It's done. It's already mature and killing in the category it created, and no amount of catchup or even superior performance in 'plug-compatible' vendors is going to make a difference.
So this is Tim Cook's big first win. He understands not to get caught up in a warren of suffixes and honorarial titles and degrees on the iPad. It's not the iPad 3 or the iPad HD or the iPad 4G(LTE) It's the iPad, period. You either have one or you don't.
